Representation of Poland and Germany new European Youth Team Chess Champions!

The Polish national team, with Oliwia Kiołbasa and Anna Kubicka, won the gold medal of the European Youth Team Chess Championship in the Girls Section. Second place for Slovenia II (Monika Rozman, Zala Urh),the bronze medal went to Estonia (Mai Narva, Margareth Olde) The event was very dramatic, full of fighting and emotions till the last round. All 3 teams have gained 10 matchpoints and additional scoring was necessary to find a winner.

Dmitrij Kollars, Thore Perske, Vincent Keymer, Leonid Sawlin i Raphael Lagunow are participants of the German representation who have won the gold medal of European Youth Team Chess Championship in Open Section. Second place has taken by Serbia’s national team, third place for Croatia.

VII round - summary

Before the last round, the situation in both sections has been really coplex. Let's start from the OPEN section – three teams (Germany, Serbia and Moldova) were co-leading. The opportunity has been used by two first above-mentioned squads (4-0 against Turkey and 3,5-0,5 against Poland IV, respectively). After really exciting games Moldova was defeated by Ukraine. A team from Croatia has taken an advantage of Moldova's defeat and after a victory over Israel, they won the bronze medals. The gold medals were won by Germany, the silver medals went to Serbia.

VI round - summary

We have three leaders in the open section after round six. The top match between sole leading Serbia and Croatia ended up with 2-2. This score gave a chance to four teams to join the top of the standings. Germany after a lost in the previous round get back to fight after victory over Hungary, Moldova won the match against Czech Republic. With a chances for a medal there are still three more teams. Turkey won all the games defeating Denmark. The encounter between two Polish teams brought a victory of Poland IV, which is the biggest surprise of the event. Also one point behind the leaders is Croatia.

GM Jan Krzysztof Duda at the Championship

The first move on the first chess board in the girls' section was made today by the Polish grandmaster Jan Krzysztof Duda. The young player is a multimedialist of the World and European Junior Championships and who reached the magic boundary of 2700 ELO points in 2017. With this ranking he occupies the 41st place in the world. In June this year he won the historic bronze medal of the World Team Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk. Jan Krzysztof Duda met with the youngest players of the royal game, he played several games with them and gave several interviews.

Football tournament

On Monday on the sport’s field „Orlik” in Rymanów Zdrój was held a football tournament. In the tournament participated 6 teams, which played against each other. After then the fight for medal places was started. The competition was very fierce. The tournament won the Polish team, 2nd place had Slovakia, Belgium was third. Slovakia II, Denmark and Germany took next places. The medalists received small gifts with the championship logo.

V round - summary

Fifth round has brought a new leader in the open section. Serbia managed to win the match 2,5-1,5 against top seed German team. The fight for the medals is going to be exciting as the second place is shared by five teams – Moldova, Croatia, Hungary, Germany and Czech Republic.

Attractions for accompanying persons

The young players came to the championship to compete for medals and valuable prizes, but also their coaches, team captains, heads of delegations and accompanying persons arrived here. Therefore it was prepared a special offer for them. Beauty treatments (paraffin wax treatment for hands, facial and neck massage, classic make-up) and hairdressing (female or male cutting and combing) were in - kind prizes in the contest. Hairdressing services were provided by Mrs Justyna Drozd-Czyżowska from the Hairdressing Studio. The beauty treatments were rendered by Mrs Sabina Pielech. All participants were very pleased and content.
