Fifth round has brought a new leader in the open section. Serbia managed to win the match 2,5-1,5 against top seed German team. The fight for the medals is going to be exciting as the second place is shared by five teams – Moldova, Croatia, Hungary, Germany and Czech Republic.

Girls section
5th round was really important – sole-leading Ukraine was fighting against the Polish first team. If they would have won then they would win the whole competition almost with 100% probability. After a very long and exhausting games Poland I has beaten the Ukrainian team 1,5-0,5 thanks to a victory of Anna Kubicka (so far the only player who gained 5 points out of five games) over Sofiya Krasnokutskaya. The ending can be seen below:

White's position is better – isolated pawn on d5 is a great weakness in the ending. After that match Poland has the same amount of matchpoints as Ukraine. The 3rd place is occupied by Slovenia I losing only 1 matchpoint to the leaders. In the 6th round Ukraine will play against this team, Poland I will face the German team. Two last rounds will be really exciting.
