IV round - summary

Round IV of the European Youth Chess Championship has been so far the most exciting one.
In the open section Germany is sole leading with 7 points after convincing victory 3,5-0,5. Defeated in the top match Croatia is sharing second place together with Serbia and Moldova. The second match, between Poland and Hungary has been very balanced, with all draws. Another 2-2 appeared, with all the games won by white in the match between Ukraine and Israel. All mentioned above teams are sharing 5^th - 10^th place as well as Denmark and Czech Republic, keeping chances for top places in the final standings.

III round - summary

Croatia is a sole leader in the open section afrer round III. We could have observe very exciting games on all the boards. After a long fight, Croatian players managed to beat Hungary 2,5-1,5. Germany convincingly won against Czech Republic 3,5-0,5. They are now clearly second with two victories and one draw. Another important match between Turkey and Israel finished with all draws, giving both teams a shared 3^rd - 10^th place together with Ukraine, Hungary, Moldova, Serbia, Poland and Poland IV.

Today, the European Youth Team Chess Championship was visited by Norbert Huber, the current World Volleyball Champion U21. He started the match on the first board and later he came to the commentary studio. It turned out that the chess games are not alien to him and he even holds a third category. 😊

Two leaders in both sections after round II.

The second round brought a lot of emotional games with many ups and downs. Most of the top games were very equal.

I round - summary (VIDEO)

The first round has abounded with many stout games – there were as many as 4 drawn matches in the OPEN section. Even the top seed – German team – made a draw against Moldova. There were some more unexpected results – Serbia was not far away from being defeated by Israel who is defending the title from the last year from Celje, Poland I did not manage to win against lower rated England.
