Two leaders in both sections after round II.
The second round brought a lot of emotional games with many ups and downs. Most of the top games were very equal.
In the open section Croatia and Ukraine are leading after winning their matches 2,5-1,5. There are four teams with one victory and one draw – Turkey, Czech Republic, Germany and unexpectedly – starting with number 14 – Israel.
In the girls section we have also two leaders – Ukraine and Estonia. Slovenia, Poland, Serbia and Slovenia II are sharing 3rd-6th place. The biggest surprise of the round was the German team loosing to Slovenia II.
Let's take a look at the most interesting ideas of the round:
Position above appeared in the game between Jana Schneider (GER) and Monika Rozman (SLOII). White is slightly better because of the pawn structure on the queenside. What is wrong with 1.Bxa7? White couldn't find an answer to this question and felt into a trap.
